Located adjacent to an abandoned iron mine, an artificial topography that acts as an educational center introduces awareness of the entropic value of constructed landscapes by focusing on the constantly regenerating skin of the earth. Located in the Highlands region of New Jersey , this matrix of recycled steel reinforcement bar articulates an integrated representation of atmosphere, biosphere, and lithosphere. This permeable material anticipates organic deposition as the artificial topography will ultimately merge with the existing landscape. Additional program located throughout the hiking trails include camping spaces which were spatially and formally informed by triangulations of soil site displaced from walking paths, rivers, or past mining processes. |
